Tiny Talk Tuesday

Tiny Talk Tuesday
10/25

So we carved our pumpkins last night and this year is the first year Spank has gutted his pumpkin himself. While I was working on Chunk's,  he was scooping his out and saving the seeds for mommy. As we were working on our pumpkins I hear him sniffing then he says " Do you smell that mommy? Smells like halloween"

monday mingle

Monday Mingle
10/24

1. Have your kids brought home any colds/flus from school yet to share with the family? If you don’t have kids, have you been sick recently?  So far, so good! They are home with me majority of the time, but when we've been out we have been lucky to avoid it! With any luck, it will stay that way.
2. What is something that you are obsessive about at home (cleaning, order, etc.)? Clutter! No clutter here! I cannot stand mail piling up, unorganized toys, clothes and other items. We spring clean and clear out once a month in this house!
3. What is the best Halloween costume YOU have ever worn? I think it would be Wilma, and my hubby was Fred for our first halloween.

monday mingle

Monday Mingle
(10/17)

What is your favorite food?

I love tacos and lasagna, so I would have to go with either of those.

 What food do you hate?

I hate onions and tomatos!!! I was allergic to tomatos growing up, so maybe that has something to do with me not touching 1/2 of things made with tomatos. Who knows?

What other blog hops or weekly memes do you do?

I participate in tiny talk tuesdays, weekend planning fridays and wordless wednesdays.

My crock pot is my new best friend.

So lately I've been cooking a ton of meals in my crock pot. I've heard about how easy it is to just put everything in there and let it cook all day, but I had no idea there were so many ideas great recipes! Last week I tried out a few new ones, We had shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches which I loved because I just put the chicken in frozen and whole and bbq and brown sugar and let it cook for the day, then shredded it and served. It was a big hit with the family! We also tried london broil with potatoes
and mushrooms that was good. This week I am planning to try out some delicious looking recipes that I've found on some great blogs and websites.

slow cooker tex-mex chicken with rice
Spicy country ribs

triple layer lasagna

There are some other great one's that I've found I look forward to trying, Meatballs will be a big hit, I am sure!

Prefense review & giveaway

Prefense Hand Sanitizer review & giveaway

We are extremely cautious when it comes to hand sanitizer, especially with Spank. We usually don't let him use it, or try to limit it due to the alcohol in it and every now and then he will decide to put his hands in his mouth. I just have never been comfortable with the idea of it, so we limit it to only when necessary. I always look in the stores for alcohol-free kinds, but have never looked any further.
When I heard about Prefense I knew I would love it before even trying it, especially after reading that it was water based and non-toxic & safe for kids! Now that's my kind of product! Plus, It didn't leave my family or my hands out!

I received an 1.5 fl oz bottle of fresh citrus prefense to try out, the first thing I thought was it was so small and wouldn't last long in this house! Until I remembered that it lasts longer than other sanitizers. Prefense sanitizer lasts for 24 hours or 10 hand washings, while other hand sanitizers only last for seconds. This bottle has lasted through the petting zoo, and pumpkin patch and still has plenty left, so I think its safe to say its pretty true to its 120 sprays per bottle!  The scent was a light scent that was pleasant and disappeared quickly, unlike some overpowering scents that stick with you even after washing multiple times that I've gotten with some sanitizers.

Another great feature is the bottle with the foaming pump! If I had a nickel for every bottle of hand sanitizer that has leaked in my purse or diaper bags I would be a very rich woman! I was so excited that I can toss this in my bag when I am done and not worry about it, plus it has a handy little cap that avoids it getting pressed in the bag! If you've ever had alcohol based hand sanitizer leak all over something it isn't a pleasant smell reeking of chemicals all day.
I cannot wait to use this in the upcoming months, all those nasty colds and germs, hoping to prevent all that this year! I'll be stocking up for sure.

Random Thought Thursdays

10/13
So, I am one of those people who always has random thoughts flowing through my head. I'm sure I am not the only one, so I decided to start Random Thought Thursdays. Be sure to stop by weekly to read some random thoughts going on in this momma's head, or link up below.

Why is Chex Muddy Buddy mix so addictive?!
I made some tonight and we could not stop snacking on it.  Whats worse? We have both decided to go on a diet, and I made this thinking we could have a little and that would be that. Yeah right! I guess we'll start our diet back up tomorrow.

wordless wednesdays

Field Trip Fridays

A couple weeks ago, my husband and I decided to take our boys to the zoo!  Hubby took a Friday off and we decided to visit Chattanooga for the day and the Chattanooga zoo! Since we've been to Zoo Atlanta so many times, we thought a change would be nice.
boys before going in to see the monkeys!
Boat ride Anyone?

While I love Zoo Atlanta, and think it has tons of great attractions and animals, its simply too busy. We've gone on weekdays and waited to see animals and gotten shoved around. It just wasn't the experience we wanted this time around, so we decided to try another zoo. Let me just say we LOVED this zoo. While smaller, it was so nice not having to fight through crowds and end up not seeing the animal shows after arriving 30 minutes ahead of time! It doesn't have the bigger animals, and all the bells and whistles of a bigger zoo, but its just peaceful. No worries of loosing your 3 year old in a crowd either, which was a huge plus for us!

Chunk waiting to go see the Red panda!

They have a nice large park next door, and lush green grasses to picnic on. They also have a carousel at the front of the park and its all really reasonably priced. My family will definitely be visiting this zoo again! If you are ever in the Chattanooga area and looking for a great family day out for a cheap price, I highly recommend this zoo.

Boys chillin' in their little red wagon!

tiny talk tuesday

 Tiny Talk Tuesday

When we were driving home the other night My husband looks out sunroof and says "oh look its the big dipper" when Spank exclaims "daddy, where is the big diaper?"

My husband ran into the store to grab something the other night and left the boys & I in the vehicle with the windows down and took his keys (he needed his store card) well Spank decides its the perfect time to start hollering out his Harry Potter spells and waving his wand out the window. Needless to say we got some funny looks from people passing by.

Monday Mingle

Monday Mingle(10/10)
1. Are you in the Fall/Autumn cooking mood yet?
Of course, I have been making homemade granola, soups and anything with apples! We are planning on baking some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins this weekend. I just got a recipe from my mother-in-law and they sounded delicious!

2. Do you like Pinterest?
Hi, I'm Jess, and I have a problem. I cannot stop pinning! The food, the crafts, the FUN! I have so many projects for the house, now to get the money to do them all!
Follow Me on Pinterest
Haven't checked Pinterest out yet? go for it, but be warned It's addicting!!

3. What do you think of the Facebook changes?
I really don't mind them too much. I guess its sort of goofy to have a newsfeed on top on a newsfeed. I'm not addicted to facebook that I'd need to see everyone's every move! Now if it were a pinterest feed, displaying all the new pins recently added I would very much enjoy that!  I'd hate to miss anything on there!

homemade Laundry detergent

With both of my boys having sensitive skin, I cannot even guesstimate how many laundry detergents and skin care products we've tried, and very few work. Often one will work for Chunk and not for Spanky or vice versa, or the one we do find will be ridiculously expensive. I've been interested in trying to make my own laundry detergent and I think I am going to try it out sometime this week.

I found some great tutorials on it, and I may have to tweak some parts, but I think I can do it. I just found this homemade laundry stain remover gel on tipnut and had to share it cause I know how often one of the boys will get a nasty stain on something and I have to break out the stain remover and then wash twice, because with their skin being so sensitive they'll break out. Well I am so excited to try this homemade stain remover without all those harsh chemicals, I may just let the boys get all stained up tomorrow just so I can try it out! I'll let you know how it goes.

Anyone ever tried making their own Laundry detergents or laundry products and want to share some friendly advice for a beginner?

I really only have one random thought today...Shocker, I know! Its been too crazy a week for me to have random thoughts bouncing around in my head.
Why is an aglet called an aglet? (yes, I've been sitting in on too much Phineas & Ferb) Ever seen the Episode I'm talking about? Then you know the song that's stuck in my head too!

Wordless Wednesdays-Yum!

Wordless Wednesdays
Chunk loved his twizzler!

Craziness!

Wow! What a week, and its not over yet! I have been terrible at keeping up on here, let alone doing much of anything aside from changing diapers, wiping noses and necessary cleaning/laundry. Chunk has been sick since Sunday, with a high fever, no appetite and snotty nose! He finally started eating again yesterday, and his fever has been lower today, but not gone! He has definitely been more himself today, and this momma is so happy! I hate seeing my babies sick, what mother doesn't, right? So I hope to get back on track and get my house back in order starting tomorrow!
