Fair Days

Tonight Chunk & I went to the fair with my mom and sisters to see The Band Perry, while Spank had some Daddy time. They went to dinner and then to see all the GeoTrax stuff at Toys R Us (he would live there, if we let him).  It's always nice for Spank to get some special one on one time with daddy, and he loves all the attention!
Vistiting the fair is a yearly event for our family, there is just something about the fair that makes me feel like a kid again, the food, the attractions, the rides and my favorite-The Animals! The jersey cows, bunnies, baby goats and my favorite the piglets! The Band Perry put on a great show, and we had a great time!  Apparently, Spank and Daddy did too! They were both fast asleep on the couch when Chunk and I returned home! Tomorrow we are visiting the zoo, can't wait to see the boys faces with all the animals!

Random Thought Thursdays

Photobucket

9/29
Alright, I am one of those people who always has random thoughts flowing through my head. I'm sure I am not the only one, so I decided to start Random Thought Thursdays. Be sure to stop by weekly to read some random thoughts going on in this momma's head, or link up below!

So My random thoughts?
Here they go.

Ever notice the things that were so amazing when you were younger, aren't so much as an adult. I can understand the movies, games, toys and such. What I don't Understand is the Foods, candys and drinks. For example, I used to LOVE those Hugs drinks(you know the ones that look like they are in barrels) I thought those were the greatest thing ever! I try them now, and cannot even swallow a sip. My sister and I always used to joke that little kids taste buds are stupid. I guess maybe there is some truth to that, cause Spank sure loves those things.(but doesn't get them often cause they are terrible for him)

When I was in Science class in school and thought when am I ever going to use this? I'm not going to be a Chemist or biologist. Well, Apparently I should have paid closer attention, because Momma's need to know the answers to some of those questions too! Spank is at his "why?" stage right now, and every time we walk outside he asks the same questions, "Why is the sky blue, Momma?" "Why does the wind blow?" " Why do those birds chirp?" I usually am quite curious to hear his answer, so I just ask him back "Why do you think the sky is blue?" or Why to others. I love hearing the things he comes up with. I get different answers every time, but I think I'm going to have to think of some creative answers pretty soon!

Why every time I get all dressed up and look decent do I see no one, but It never fails that the one time I do nothing with myself and run to the store for juice or quick item, every single person I've known has decided to have a reunion at the local Kroger. I will never understand how it works out that way!

Favorite Childhood toys

Day 7
Your favorite childhood toys

When I was little I was obsessed with Gordon Shumway, you know that space alien ALF from planet Melmac?

I had the doll along with other alf toys to accompany my LOVE for that furry alien. My family tells the story often of my Alf obsession and how it went too far. When I was about 3 or 4 my grandparents were babysitting me and I had a outdoor cat at their house, Puddin. Puddin was a HUGE orange fluffy cat, who was really friendly and let me tote him around and play like three or four year olds commonly do. This day I decided to be like my favorite alien, and catch Puddin' and try to roast him on the unlit grill. Puddin' didnt get hurt, but my arms and belly were clawed up. When my grandparents asked why, I told them I wanted to eat him, like Alf does Lucky. Needless to say they watched me a little closer around Puddin' after that encounter.

zodiac signs

Day 6
My zodiac sign and if it fits my personality.

I'll admit I'm not one to follow my horoscope much, I haven't ever. I guess as a child I can remember looking up my "lucky" days and "bad" days in the back of a teen magazine, and possibly reading my horoscope to see if it said anything special, but I never put any real thoughts into what it meant. The zodiac sign characteristics are never the same, if you've ever looked in the backs of magazines, online or anywhere they don't say anything relatively close. One website may say my sign is down to earth and caring and another may call libra's uptight and uncompassionate. It says I am graceful, peaceful, idealistic, and diplomatic, I'll agree I can be some of those, depending on the day :)

Comfort Foods

Day 5
Your favorite comfort foods

First, let me start by telling you a little of my background to help you understand why I love these foods so much. I am the oldest of 3 girls in my family, my middle sister is 3 years younger than me, and my youngest is 5 years younger. All of our birthdays are within 2 weeks of each other. Mine comes first, at the end of September, then my youngest sisters mid-October and finally my middle sister, at the end of October. Each year, for as long as I can remember my sisters and I choose our birthday dinners, My momma, or g-ma would cook whatever we wanted. I can always remember choosing this pinto beans,cornbread,mac-n-cheese and fried potatoes and instead of cake and ice cream I would choose Apple dumplings with vanilla pudding, topped with melted red hots!  I'll admit it isn't the healthiest choice, but it reminds me of my grandparents. I love the memories and association I have with it.  When I eat it, I'm flooded with the memories of growing up in Michigan and the fun times I had staying at my grandparents house. As my sisters and I got older, we would talk about what each of us were going to choose as our meal, and each of us would plan what we liked, to make sure we would all be getting one of our favorite, but rarely cooked meals.
I love this meal, and all the memories I have to accompany it! I have never made it on my own, I just don't think it would be as special.

Day 4 of 30 day challenge

Day 4
My Views on Religion.

My Views on religion are pretty simple. I believe in God.
My family does not attend church regularly, but I personally do not believe that makes me any less of a christian. We are looking for a church, and have tried a couple but they just haven't felt like "home."  I grew up pentecostal, my husband catholic; we had decided on a non-denominational church for our family. Which turned out to be complicated, cause its mostly southern Baptist churches in the south.
After talking I decided that religious denomination wasn't the important thing. I would rather find a church that welcomes our family and that we feel like we belong. I loved that feeling growing up of belonging to a congregation that felt like family.

Day 3 of blog challenge

Day 3
Top 5 Pet Peeves

1. Taking off your socks on not putting them in the hamper- I know, It seems small and you may be thinking "whats the big deal? Just pick them up for them" Well, I do pick them up, but that doesn't mean it doesn't annoy the snot out of me! I think because some days its a chore in itself to keep the house picked up behind the boys. Then that certain someone comes home from work, and I understand he doesn't want to run his socks to the hamper as soon as he sits down. I would settle for him picking them up at all! Trust me, I tried when we first moved out together. A week's worth of socks piled up before I couldn't handle it anymore!
2. My food order being wrong, more than once- I have a huge amount of respect for people in the food industry, my first job was at Wendy's, so I understand what is involved in all of it. I had orders come through the drive thru and there have been mistakes made with them, but we would politely fix the order and most of the time the customer would leave happy. I would make sure the order went out correctly the second time, because I know It always got under my skin when they couldn't get my food correct the second time! I have to say it happens to us quite a bit, and my husband always tells me to just eat it! Sometimes I will, depending on the item, sometimes I go back the 3rd time and complain, politely. He rolls his eyes, and I always reply, " I can do that, I used to work fast food."
3.Taking the Trash out of the Garbage can, and not putting a new bag in!
This one I cannot elaborate on, It just one of those odd things, that drives me bonkers. :)
4. People who don't pick up after their pets using bathroom- It was the worst at the apartment we lived in before buying the house, everyone in our building had a dog(s) and they just let them poop everywhere, and leave it. Poor Spank would step in it everytime he went to play ball in grassy area that we finally wouldn't let him play at apartment anymore. One neighbor was just as irritated by this, and actually posted flyers around buildings, I told her I wanted to post some that read " I don't let my kid poop anywhere & not pick it up. Don't let your dog!"
5.When People let their kids put stickers all over the car windows- I mean why? I've never actually known anyone, I just see it driving down the road and it will be a nice expensive vehicle and I always think to myself, why not buy that child a sticker album? We have cling on from inside, our windows are tinted  so you cannot see the clings from the outside. At least the Clings peel right off, I can't imagine how hard it would be to get those stickers off! Poor Mommies & Daddies!

Tiny Talk Tuesday.

I've decided to link up to Tiny Talk Tuesday, after all who doesn't love hearing things from the mouths of babes! I know I've enjoyed following alot of other blogs reading what their little ones say!
I am pretty sure I send out texts daily to my husband and sisters about the silliest or funniest things Spank has said or done that day. He is always keeping us laughing!

First, let me say Spank loves Popcorn, so much so that when we asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween last year, he chose Popcorn!
Spank taking his costume contest photo, Halloween 2010.(he won 2nd)

We've recently started popping our own popcorn, I think it just tastes so much better that way, plus no radiation from microwave!
Well, the other night we put him to bed and I decided to make some popcorn for Hubby & I to enjoy with our movie. As soon as it started popping, his door opens and out his little head pops, and says "What's that Smell?" I told him that I was making Daddy and I a snack, and I would make him some tomorrow. He then tells me " You guys can't eat popcorn without me!"  That boy has the nose of a bloodhound when it comes to popcorn!

I am a huge Michigan State University Fan and of course I am proud to put that green & white on my boys! Well Spank has made this momma so proud yelling "Go SPARTY!" every time he sees the MSU Spartan! Although it used to sound more like Go potty! To which my husband and I would hop up and run him to the potty with him looking at us, like whats up with these nuts!?
Saturday Night we went to get Jet's pizza for the game and while we are waiting on the pizza, Spank keeps telling me look at that guy, he is saying Go Sparty. I instantly look around to see where the MSU fan is, after all its rare to find them in Georgia. Spank notices me looking wrong way and tells me, "No, up there, high. He is saying "GO SPARTY!!"  It was the jet's pizza guy, I am not sure what reminds him of Sparty, but I am still happy he was thinking MSU!
Go Sparty!
